Al Safa Street Major Upgrade
Dubai is taking a bold step toward smoother commutes and smarter urban design with the announcement of the Al Safa Street Improvement Project. Spearheaded by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this ambitious infrastructure plan is designed to enhance connectivity, ease congestion, and enrich the daily lives of residents and visitors.
Transforming Al Safa Street: What You Need to Know
Stretching from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Wasl Street, the 1,500-meter corridor will undergo a major transformation that includes the construction of:
- 2 new bridges
- 2 advanced tunnels
- A total structural length of 3,120 meters
Once completed, the improvements are expected to reduce travel time from 12 minutes to just 3 minutes and double the street’s capacity from 6,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
Why This Project Matters
According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA, this project is more than just an upgrade it’s part of a strategic master plan to meet Dubai’s rapid population growth, economic expansion, and evolving urban landscape.
The area serves key destinations like City Walk, Coca-Cola Arena, luxury hotels, residential communities, and educational institutions. It also improves traffic flow toward Downtown Dubai and Financial Centre Street, areas inhabited by over one million residents.
